Do you remember back when only the super-wealthy could afford to have video cameras? Now, with today’s cheaper digital camcorders, practically everyone has one. Of course, the one trouble that everyone has is transmitting digital formats directly to DVD.

Fortunately, Sony has created the DVDirect DVD Burner, a device that is starting to gain some popularity in the consumer video camcorder market. The DVDirect DVD Burner allows the transfer of content from other media straight to a DVD without the PC middleman.

Backup battery for your iPhone

As most of you know since most of the entire world by now owns an iPhone, it has a built-in battery. Which is fine, but when your iPhone runs out of juice, it can really suck. With other phones you can have a second battery handy as a back up.

Well, here’s the iPhoneck Backup Battery for the iPhone. It can charge up to 60% of your iPhone’s battery life when you let them mate. It’s design tries not to interrupt your iPhone’s design too much, by basically adding a bit of a neck to your phone. Targus portable folding speaker

Targus has just rolled out its new portable foldign speaker known as the AEM0702AP in Korea. I suppose you could always slip a love note inside it when folded to your mate, surprising her as she opens it at work to listen to the new CD you bought for her. Of course, if she happens to work in a place where power outlets are hard to come by, it would be prudent to include a quartet of AAA batteries into the mix so that these speakers can be powered. Alternatively, just hook it to your computer’s USB port and you’re good to go. No idea on pricing though.

Westinghouse 56? Quad HD Monitor

While a 52 inch version of Westinghouse’s QUAD HD LCD monitor has been available to select companies in need of high-resolution displays for a while, a new version is now available to anyone willing to shell out $50,000. The new model, dubbed the D56QX1, has been bumped to 56 inches in size and like its predecessor features a resolution of 3840×2160. That’s 8.3 million pixels, compared to 2.1 million for boring old 1080p HD. The D56QX1 also features a 1200:1 contrast ratio, 500 nits brightness, a 6.5ms response time and compatibility with a wide variety of dual-link DVI video cards from ATI and Nvidia. Just make sure your desk can support 108lbs of monitor before you make the investment.
