Nintendo DS Lite charging dock

Friday, May 16th, 2008 | Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets with No Comments »

For some reason it just seems nicer to me when I have some type of cradle, dock or stand to charge my gadgets with instead of just a cord and naturally we were excited to see this charging stand for the Nintendo DS Lite. Sure the docks take up more room on my desk and are difficult to take along when you travel, but with them each items has their own neat and special place.

This stand looks to take up a little less space then it could, holding the DS upright on its side instead of flat. It comes in colors of black or white to match the black and white DS’s, and is expected to be available from PlayAsia sometime yet this month for just under $17 USD.

I’m not sure what they’re smoking, but the whole effect is ruined the minute you put a few adapters in it, making it look like your wires are about to pull the whole thing under…your carpet. File this one under good concept, bad follow-through.

Well here’s a product designer who also used themselves for inspiration. But instead of looking at his face, Alexander Lervik wanted to delve deeper into his head so he had an MR scan of his brain done at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. The image of his brain was then processed by a rapid prototyping 3D printer to create this bizarre looking lamp. It’s lit internally by a set of bright LEDs and apparently does throw off quite a bit of light, but I think he missed the opportunity to have a single illuminated lightbulb floating above his brain. Now that’s a good idea!

If you own a small business or just have a lot of valuables in your home, you’ve probably considered purchasing a couple of security cameras. Unfortunately such things cost money, and thus aren’t always an option. If you’re only mildly concerned that people are going to try and break into your place, why not get a couple of dummy cameras instead?
