Actiontec DSL Modem is green

Actiontec earlier this week unveiled what it is calling an environmentally friendly DSL modem. It is called the Actiontec GT701D. No pricing information was available.

The Actiontec GT701D is a USB/Ethernet DSL modem with routing capabilities. It has an Energy Star rated power adapter, signfying tht it “uses at lest 30% less energy” than similar non-green modems. Other environmentally focused features include recycled packaging and less energy reportedly consumed during production.

Atari 7800 Portable

Ben Heck… the super talented moder, has added another console to his massive retro custom built library of stuff by creating a portable Atari 7800. According to his site, the project was supposed to start a few years back, but due to the complexity over the Atari 2600 he got cold feet… until now.

The Portable 7800 Atari features a 7 inch widescreen display, runs on rechargeable batteries and has an A/V output jack.

Fujifilm Launches CompactFlash Cards 310x

Yesterday Fujifilm announced the launch of their new UDMA 310x CompactFlash cards that have the fastest sustained write speed of any card on the market. Thanks to a specially designed controller and the latest SLC (single layer cell) flash memory chips the new CompactFlash cards are capable of writing data at an impressive 46.5MB/sec.

Krell preamp/processor

Krell is one of those high end audio companies you don’t hear much about unless you are a true audiophile who has some serious cash to drop on top notch gear. One of the company’s latest products is a case in point - the Evolution 707 preamp/processor, reported to be pricing at around $30,000.

The Krell Evolution 707 provides for 8.4 channels of audio output, including two center channel and four subwoofer outputs for blasting your neighbors into submission. It supports HDMI 1.3 as well as pretty much ever standard of Dolby and DTS you can think of, plus nine of Krell’s own specialized surround sound modes.
