If you’ve been looking for a cheap digital video camera for posting YouTube videos, there is the JVC Everio, but some might find it a bit too large to carry around on a daily basis, and maybe you’re looking for something cheaper still. The Flip camcorders a favorite, but they might have some competition with the latest Vivitar model.
The DVR565HD can record 30fps 720P “HD” videos in MPEG4 or H.264 directly to an SD card. (Up to 4GB cards are supported.) It can also apparently play 1080i videos and can connect directly to an HDTV with an included HDMI cable. It won’t be available for a few more weeks, but Target currently has it listed for just $129.99, which makes it pretty tempting.

These are some excellent renders, but unfortunately this is just a concept Sony Cybershot camera called ‘Snap’. It was obviously inspired by a man’s wallet, the surface is even covered in leather. Like some other ultra compact Cybershot cameras, you slide the cover to activate, only it pivots from a corner for easy one handed operation. But aside from that, it’s just another typical Cybershot.

SeaLife has a new digital camera for those who like to spend their time underwater, the DC800. This 8 megapixel camera is capable of producing extremely sharp images at depths of up to 200 feet. When you get all shriveled up and head for land again, the DC800 can be used in dry conditions as well. Just remove the slim camera from the waterproof housing and you’re ready. There’s virtually no shutter lag with fast shutter time and quick-start.

Panasonic is bringing a new wireless digital camera to the ranks of its TZ-family. This model will be known as the LUMIX DMC-TZ50 and it will price at around $450.
The LUMIX DMC-TZ50 from Panasonic is a 9.1-megapixel shooter with a 28mm wide-angle lens and 10x optical zoom. It can be used to wirelessly connect to a hotspot and upload the photos to Google’s Picasa Web Albums either one at a time or multiple photos at a time. Panasonic is trying to push using a T-Mobile HotSpot for this feature, offering a year of free wireless usage from T-Mobile. Read the rest of this entry »
