As a parent, I often wonder how many other parents read this site. I am assuming there is quite a lot. The Leap Frog Leapster is nothing new, but I highly recommend it.

The Leap Frog Leapster Learning Game System is something like a handheld gaming system, as it takes cartridges to run it. It even has a digital pen thing like the Nintendo DS. However, the Leap Frog Leapster actually comes with some little games already loaded in the thing that can entertain a kid for hours.

For example, one of the preloaded games has a rabbit jumping on logs in a “Frogger” like setting, complete with the sound effects. The difference is the rabbit must jump on certain letters or numbers, so this is educational.

Another pre-loaded game is kind of like a digital coloring book. All a kid has to do is move the digital pen across the page, and it colors automatically. He or she can also manually put in colors, little graphics, patterns, for all sorts of fun things.

Let me just say, I can’t get this product out of my three-year-old’s hands. It really does keep him occupied. I’ve had to invest in some rechargeable batteries, or else it could get pretty expensive.

So yeah, I’ll admit that this product isn’t new, but Leap Frog puts out new cartridges all the time. So for all parents who want to keep their kid occupied on say, a long trip, the Leap Frog Leapster is for you. You can get it for about $59.99 from Amazon and other retailers.
